The two big-bellied laboratory jars filled with water and lit from within seem to be floating somewhere around eye-level. They are linked by tubes with ends leading to a pump attached to the ceiling. Their content - a clear liquid containing tiny, ascending bubbles - reinforces the sensation of witnessing a chemical reaction. A dome-like, reddish video image is projected over this set-up. Two different elements can be discerned. One is the infinitely slowed-down shot of a wide-open mouth; it lends the installation its expression of dominance. The other element, the dancing and flickering light reflections of the bubbles, is superimposed over the open jaws through the light of the lamps immersed in the water. The bubbles appear to surge into the mouth and illuminate it at the same time. The pump in the depths of the mouth seems to be sucking back in the air it breathes out, and using it to recharge the glass lungs. With the individual, separate elements and with their assigned constellation, the artist creates a minimalist model of biological and physical procedures. The world of images is inventively used to expand reality in the installation. Without regard for predefined boundaries, he designs fictional connections between abstract objects, real procedures and virtual images.
