Wasteland, steppe. Night-time. Someone is dragging himselve along a never-ending road. A tired old man's voice can be heard from somewhere reproaching his son, Ignacio. He's a rogue, a good-for-nothing, an unashamed criminal who has brought scandal on the family. And he's got his mother on his conscience, too. Finally the man finds his son. He hadn't heard the dogs barking. The story is superbly produced with a whole host of surreal elements and full of Latin American pathos.
