Mikko Hynninen creates a complete audiovisual experience, a performance without actors and a concert without instruments or musicians, in which the space itself is the focal point with its inherent sounds and logistical elements. Hynninen uses lighting, microphones, air conditioners or smoke machines, every technical equipment which he can find in the auditorium of the Academy of Arts. The result is a minimalistic electro-mechanical opera, a 'ballet mécanique' in which spatial elements and technical objects are humanised. The space is both a source and a product, it is a virtual instrument that constructs the performance itself. The interaction between space and the technical materials gives the impression of a living organism. The title 'Studio ADK' belongs to Hynninens series of specifically conceived performance works for different stages. Each of them is named after their protagonist, the stage itself. The previous works in Brussels and Helsinki are called 'Kaaitheaterstudio's' and 'Kiasma-teatteri' respectively.
